Dr Julie Jones-Diette

Graduating from the University of Sheffield with a BSc Hons Zoology specialising in bird behavioural ecology and the evolution of insect aposematic defence, Julie began her 15-year research career at the Waltham Petcare Science Institute. There, she managed trials in translational medicine and held a seat on the ethics committee.
In 2010, she began doctoral training at Nottingham University, earning a PhD in Veterinary Epidemiology and Evidence-based Research in 2014. Her thesis on the application of data mining techniques to identify veterinary cohorts from practice records for research was published and presented internationally.
Julie has also held human health research roles for the NHS including working on an international Tinnitus outcomes project and contributed to a global Lyme disease public health research project. In 2018 Julie joined the University of York CRD as an NIHR HTA Fellow. She specialised in systematic reviews of healthcare interventions to advise NHS, NICE and NIHR and led the introduction of PROSPERO for Animal Studies.
Her charity work includes Medical Detection Dogs, she was the programme manager for bio-detection research. Later, at the Pain Centre Versus Arthritis, she coordinated MSK Patient and Public Involvement research and research communications.
Now Clinical Research and Data Manager at NoBACZ Healthcare, for the past 2 years Julie has helped raise £2.4M of IUK and match funding to support an innovative veterinary research & animal welfare project.
Currently Julie has taken a sabbatical to focus on her passion, Zoological research and Conservation. Julie is currently working with the University of Nottingham researching the ecology, summer vs winter habitat use, of the Eurasian Harvest Mouse (Micromys minutus).
